Look Better, Feel Better Through Vegan Skincare

By George Ellis

The condition of ones skin gives the first impression of them. It is termed as the biggest organ. The skin absorbs everything that is applied to it. Vegan skincare is not only kind to the skin but also to animals. One must endeavor to feed and nourish their skin topically. Just eating right is not enough. It has been estimated that only 2% of what is consumed goes to the skin.

PETA offers two choices for organic skin care products, cruelty-free and vegan. The latter is made from plant and mineral ingredients. All animal ingredients like elastin and collagen are removed and swapped for safe synthetic ingredients. Use of these products is deemed a stand against animal cruelty and environmental destruction. They are also rich in antioxidants among other useful ingredients.

Organic products in this category will have both PETA and Vegan association certifications. One can tell if they do by checking the container for stamps. The VA has a sunflower logo. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals trust the companies they support to adhere to the ethics of animal treatment. One can choose between cruelty-free and vegan products. Some products satisfy both criteria.

Marigold extract is also called Calendula. It is used in place of retinol, which is mostly derived from animals. Mild amounts of it can be extracted from plants but there would be no way of knowing if one comes across a product with the ingredient. Calendula is great for that healthy and youthful looking skin. It helped with cellular regeneration and prevents acne. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antiseptic properties. These are good qualities of a beauty product.

The senna seed is a rare herb known for its ability to give great hair, skin and improve health. There are many uses for this seed but this post is only concerned with one. It promotes moisture retention and skin elasticity. It improves the structure of the skin. Breakouts will be a thing of the past when this extract comes into play. One can be assured of a supple dermis and benefit of a lot of antioxidants.

Rhassoul clay is sourced from deep beneath the mountains of Morocco. It is a great alternative to facial masks. It has all sorts of useful minerals like sodium and magnesium. The negative ions in this clay will pull dirt out of the pores by attracting its positive ions. This leaves the face clean and poreless. Talk about baby face.

Algae extract is akin to seaweed. Seaweed is the life retaining force of the underwater world. Applied onto the body, it transfers the same powers onto the skin making it revitalized and happy. This is great for detoxification and hydration. It has omega 3 fatty acids and chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is responsible for the vibrant green color of leaves. Imagine the same vibrancy on the face!

Products that are sold commercially wit the above extracts start to die as soon as they hit the shelf. The earlier one gets to them, the better. Companies are also not transparent as to the true source of these ingredients as some can be found in animals. If one has access to the natural sources of these ingredients, they should make use of it. The skin is a great asset. If one is kind to it, it will be kind right back,
