Good Quality Eyelashes Can Look Natural

By Larry Hall

The idea that fake lashes always look fake is not true. They can look natural and improve the appearance. Many people are intimidated by the application process, especially if they have sensitive eyes. However, good quality eyelashes are usually fairly easy to apply today and offer that wow factor that make people look twice when someone wearing them walks into a room.

Lashes come in many different thicknesses, sizes and shapes. Some are longer and thicker than others. Some come in strips and others as individual lashes or in trios. There are those with clear or invisible bands and others with a black band. They type with the black band is actually less visible against the dark lashes of the eye.

All kinds of different materials such as silk, horse hair and sable can be used to make these products. Sometimes human hair is used but most people choose to buy ones made from synthetic materials because they can be made to look natural and come at a much cheaper price. Of course many really cheap versions are available but these tend to look really fake.

The first thing to consider when choosing lashes is the shape of the eyes. Deep set eyes are better paired with fuller and longer lashes that bring the eyes forward. Prominent eyes need more subtle lashes that help to reduce the definition of the eyes. Eyes that turn down slightly need lashes to lift them and upturned eyes look best with lashes that emphasize their beautiful natural lift.

Eyelash extensions are usually fitted by professionals but false lashes can be applied at home. Glue is usually used on but sometimes magnets are used that make them easier to apply and remove. Clear glue may seem like a better option but in fact, when it dries it leaves some white. Dark glue is more discreet and blends with the color of the lashes.

When lashes are purchased, they might not be an exact fit. It may be necessary to trim them to fit the length of the eye. It is better to do this before application. Be careful to apply lashes to the top of the eye lashes and not to the lids. Applying them to the lids can look unnatural as it may leave a space.

Once they are applied, try not to play with them or touch them as they may fall off. They are not waterproof so they cannot be worn while swimming or on occasions, like weddings or funerals, when tears are likely.

It is possible to wear false lashes more than once if they are carefully removed. It is suggested that removing them with fingers instead of tweezers causes less damage. Remove any mascara with makeup remover and they will be clean enough to wear a second time. Applying mascara before or after applying false lashes is up to the individual. In the case of strip lashes, most people choose to apply mascara after applying the lashes because it helps to blend the false and natural lashes.
