Important Tips On How To Use The Best Self Tanners Evenly

By Haywood Hunter

Tanner products exist in form of gels, sprays, lotions, and mousses. Lotions appear to be the most preferred by many people because they are easy to apply and offer flawless shades when applied properly. One good aspect about the best self tanners is that their tint tends to last longer than other types of sunless tan products.

Sunless tanners are available in various forms such as gels, sprays, and mousse. Among all the tanning products, lotions have a greater acceptance. The probable reason behind the high preference for lotions is perhaps because of their ability to last for longer periods when applied on skin.

Mousses have no moisture in them. They hence work pretty well in oily skins. Their tan also tends to fade unevenly. Care should be taken when using them since they may not go well with dry complexions. In tanning, is not just about the beauty you get, but also how long the glow lasts while not being smelly or producing imperfections like streaks.

One pitfall of using mousses is that people with oily skin are not recommended to use them. This is because they have no moisture in them, and hence may react on oily skins or even dry complexions. Moreover, their tan also tends to fade unevenly. The first thing to do before rushing to apply the tanner lotion is exfoliating the dermis. This is so because the dermis excretes dead cells on its surface, and it requires removing them out.

Drying of the skin is the next step that follows. Wiping your skin dry makes it fit for an even application of a tanner. While applying the self tanner to the skin surface, massage it gently in a circular motion not leaving the ankles and wrist too. Washing of hands with a cleaning agent and water should be done always after applying the lotions on any section of the body.

Washing hands will help avoid palms from turning orange. Using gloves or loofahs is also a wise idea. However, this should be done before tanner application. Make it a habit to always dilute the tan before massaging your joints. After the tan, you may now dress. However, remember to leave your skin surface to dry for about 10 minutes before dressing.

To dilute the tanner, you only require to lightly rub with a dampened towel. You may also apply a thin layer of lotion on top of the self-tanner. When done, allow the skin to dry out for about 10 minutes before you dress up. Only light and loose clothing need to be used after you have tanned the skin. Sweating should be avoided as much as possible.

Nevertheless, the sunscreen should be of SPF 30 and water resistant as well. In the instance that you find yourself with few orangey stains on skin, do not panic. Simply take a quick shower and they will fade away. Moreover, if you are in possession of milk, add a few cupfuls to the bath water. The lactic acid in the milk will help erode the color away.
