Revision Rhinoplasty, What It Is And Why Do It

By Gary Collins

A pretty face makes a lasting impression to people you know and people you get acquainted with. Taking care of your face needs to be part of your daily cleansing routine. At times, you will need to go to dermatologists to do facial treatments or surgery. One popular facial surgery is nose job. When you need a follow up for that, you can go to a clinic that does revision rhinoplasty Houston.

Your nose will be reconstructed as you do rhinoplasty procedure. You may get either two of its surgical operations. The nose job may be reconstructive or comestic surgery. Rebuilding the function and form of the nose is what occurs in the former. Improving the aesthetics and its beauty happens in the latter.

Revision rhinoplasty happens when you want to improve the nose job you just had. This follow up procedure intends to make any corrections and improvements to any problems that occur after the previous one. It only has to make any minor tweaks to what has been done.

Do not take your decision in this regard lightly. It may only involve minor fixings but it still composes of complicated procedures. Not only that, you need to consider the expense you will pay for this procedure. What you may undergo will be a bit more costly than the primary rhinoplasty.

You either can have the original surgeon do the fixing or have another one who specializes in it. Either way, you need to ensure that he expertly knows the ins and outs of nasal structures. Not only that, they need to have the experience in dealing with the corrections. That way, you are assured that they are able to understand the cause and operations for your issue.

Reasons for your nose problems vary. For instance, when fixing cosmetic surgery, it may be due to asymmetrical shape of the tip of your nose. It can be because of cartilage protrusion causing uneven or pointy appearance. In the case of reconstructive surgery, your nose has nasal obstruction. This is the most common problem when it comes to nasal function.

This is why you have to discuss things through with your surgeon first. This way, you are informed of both expectations and risks that could potentially occur pre and post surgery. Talk to them of what you are experiencing or maybe why you are not happy with your primary rhinoplasty. After your discussion, you can make an informed decision on proceeding with the operation.

Risks involved here also happen as with surgical operations. Your sense of smell may be temporarily lost after the procedure. You may experience swelling for prolonged time. The blood vessels around your nose may possibly burst. Your nasal functions and its aesthetics may complicate further as a result.

Before doing any of this, however, you have to wait for at least a year before undergoing another. This is to ensure that any swelling on the nose reduces and heals. Also, your next surgeon has to wait for the scar tissue to soften first in order to fix the nasal issues easily. If not, then the hard tissue will prevent them from doing the necessary corrections.
